LOVING FOOD RESOURCES

Volunteer Opportunity!

Loving Food Resources (LFR)is seeking volunteers to help with their food program. LFR provides food to our community members afflicted with HIV/AIDS and those who are in home hospice care. LFR has been serving our community for 25 years and has a small grocery open on Saturdays at the Kenilworth Presbyterian Church. Volunteers are needed to help pre-pack boxes, work the grocery store on Saturday mornings while clientele “shop” for what they need, and to drive individuals home with their wares. Many of the clientele use buses to arrive at the grocery store but cannot lug all their food home on the bus. It’s also a great time to get to know your community members and share a little love and support to one another. For more info or to schedule a tour of the facility, please contact Nancy Gavin at 445-655-3074.

Warm Woollies is Mother Grove’s project to send warmth and love to the ladies at Helpmate, Asheville’s Domestic Violence Shelter. We are asking that those who can knit or crochet to create simple hats and/or scarves for women and children that we can deliver to Helpmate. Items can be delivered to any Holy Day we host, bring them to any Devotional or you can email us to arrange for a meetup.

IN THE ARMS OF THE GODDESS

When children are scared or hurt, they seek out Mother, 190_AngelofabundanceThey crawl into Her lap, snuggle up to Her bosom, and wait for Her arms to wrap around them, giving them protection and unconditional love. As adults we seek Mother in the same manner when we are scared or hurt. In the Arms Of The Goddess seeks to provide that feeling of protection and unconditional love for everyone in our community.

In The Arms Of The Goddess is a charitable program of the Mother Grove Goddess Temple. Our aim is to take donated goods and provide them to the community regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or spiritual path. We seek to let our neighbors know that they are loved and protected by their own neighbors whom are the representatives of The Mother.

Who are our recipients? Everyone in the community! Anyone can contact us in time of need and we will make an effort to try and help them. In addition we will be sending goods to; Prison Ministry of Mother Grove Goddess Temple, Helpmate of Asheville (a domestic abuse shelter), and Homeward Bound.

How can I donate? You can bring the goods to any ritual that we host. If you wish to deliver goods to us outside of our regularly scheduled events you are very welcome to contact us to arrange a meeting.

I can’t make a donation now, can I help? Yes! Volunteers are needed in coordinating pickup of goods, delivery of goods, and speaking with people who wish to donate or need help.

Many people want to know what sort of donations we are looking for to help with In the Arms of the Goddess.
